Free As A Human is a proud member of the United Nations Fashion and Lifestyle Network (UNFLN)—a high-impact platform that connects changemakers across fashion, government, media, and the UN system to accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As part of this global network, we are committed to advancing transparency, circularity, and social justice in the fashion industry and beyond.
Our Founder and President, Anyango Mpinga, has served as an Advisory Committee Member of the UNFLN, lending her expertise at key global dialogues, including:
Through this leadership role, Free As A Human contributes to global conversations shaping ethical fashion, policy influence, and sustainable innovation. As a recognized member of the UNFLN, we continue to forge partnerships, amplify survivor-centered design, and champion the power of creative industries to transform systems, restore dignity, and deliver measurable impact for people and the planet.
RA International is a key partner whose support has directly contributed to the success of Free As A Human’s impact in East Africa. After undertaking human trafficking workshops with HAART Kenya, RA International became an official partner in 2018, funding the architectural drawings for HAART Kenya’s first shelter for survivors. This was a major milestone for Free As A Human, which launched as a fashion campaign to raise funds for the shelter.
In July 2019, RA began selling Free As A Human merchandise in their convenience store within their Mogadishu compound—raising both funds and awareness among staff and international clients. As a direct result of this grassroots visibility, the British Forces in Somalia, one of RA’s clients, organized a charity fitness event—the Somali Spartan—raising over $6,000 for HAART Kenya.
These partnerships demonstrate how corporate engagement, creative advocacy, and survivor-centered action can converge to create lasting impact. From materials to mission, Free As A Human continues to activate global support to fund survivor care, elevate their creative potential, and fight for freedom through the power of ethical fashion.
The Swarovski Foundation, established in 2013, continues Swarovski’s legacy of philanthropy by supporting programs that promote inclusion, human empowerment, environmental stewardship, and creative expression—all aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. As part of their commitment to positive social impact, the Swarovski Foundation donated fine jewelry for auction, with 100% of the proceeds supporting Free As A Human Foundation’s education programs for survivors of human trafficking. Their generosity has directly funded our learning initiatives while also benefiting partner programs like Azadi Kenya, a vital resource center for trafficking survivors.
Through this partnership, the Swarovski Foundation has helped amplify our mission to empower women and girls through trauma-informed education, skills development, and creative healing—demonstrating the powerful intersection of fashion, philanthropy, and social justice. The Swarovski Foundation’s support reflects a shared belief: that freedom is a fundamental right, and that creative solutions can lead to lasting systems of care, equity, and empowerment.
Birla Cellulose by Aditya Birla Group is a global leader in Viscose Staple Fibre (VSF) and holds a strong position in the international textile market. Their product portfolio includes Livaeco™ by Birla Cellulose, Birla Modal™, Birla Excel™, Birla Viscose™, and Birla Spunshades™—fibres known for their natural origin, breathability, soft feel, and full biodegradability. Livaeco™ in particular is manufactured using a closed-loop process that minimizes environmental impact, supported by extensive R&D that continues to make the production process more sustainable.
As part of their commitment to ethical innovation and circularity, Aditya Birla generously donated textiles to Free As A Human for the 2025 “Interwoven Human Connections” art and fashion exhibition in New York City to benefit our programs. This contribution directly supported the creation of handcrafted garments and mixed media artworks by Anyango Mpinga and collaborating artisans—bringing to life stories of resilience, memory, and liberation through sustainable materials.
The partnership played a vital role in amplifying Free As A Human’s mission to end modern slavery and empower survivors of human trafficking through artistic expression, skill development, and eco-conscious design. The donated textiles became vessels for transformation, storytelling, and advocacy on a global stage.
Free As A Human is proud to partner with HAART Kenya—a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to ending human trafficking in Kenya and the wider East African region. HAART plays a critical role in raising awareness at the grassroots level, supporting survivors, and working with national and international networks to prosecute traffickers and dismantle systems of exploitation.
This partnership has been foundational to Free As A Human’s mission. In 2018, our fashion campaign was launched to raise funds for the construction of HAART Kenya’s first shelter for girls rescued from trafficking. Today, that shelter offers survivors a safe, healing environment with access to trauma-informed care, education, and pathways toward independence.
Together, we continue to use art, fashion, and advocacy to raise global awareness, challenge injustice, and create opportunities for survivors to rebuild their lives. By combining HAART Kenya’s frontline expertise with Free As A Human’s creative advocacy and resource mobilization, this partnership directly supports the restoration of dignity and freedom for women and girls most at risk.
Free As A Human is honored to partner with Azadi Kenya, a survivor-led, counter-trafficking organization dedicated to providing long-term, holistic support for survivors of human trafficking. Recognizing that many survivors face isolation and limited opportunities after rescue, Azadi Kenya offers a critical pathway to healing, reintegration, and self-determination.
Through this partnership, Free As A Human facilitated a donation to help strengthen the Azadi Resource Centre, a safe space where survivors between the ages of 18–30 receive trauma-informed support, leadership development, and skills training. This investment directly contributes to Azadi’s mission of equipping women with resources to thrive beyond exploitation.
